John Davidson, MARLA
SouthSide was set up after John was unhappy at how other agents overcharged in various aspects from tenant fees to “hidden costs” for letting so he started to manage his own buy-to-let properties whilst working for Lidl. At Lidl he was responsible for finding, negotiating, acquiring, obtaining planning consent, building warrant and licencing which resulted in building 14 open supermarkets in Scotland & England. John developed his work ethic from an early age working on his family’s beef & sheep hill farm near Moffat before studying Business & Accounting at Edinburgh Uni. He funded himself through Uni from his teenage business selling free range eggs and running his own business in America between terms at university, going door to door, selling educational books and software to families. This enabled him to buy his first two HMO properties in Edinburgh back in 2004 and has steadily built his own portfolio since. His passion and knowledge for commercial and particularly residential property is unrivalled and has helped clients maximise their investments. He thinks like a landlord and has very strong basic principles and ethics regarding property for both landlords & tenants which are at the forefront of SouthSide and his colleagues. John works hard but ensures he has enough time for his wife and his son, James. In addition to work and family commitments John also spends time coaching and helping young people in business and is a Trustee on the Board of Directors at Canongate Youth, a charity providing support, recreation and training opportunities for 5-25 year olds.
Angela joined Southside after managing a smaller letting agency for 2 ½ years. She has a background in administration, account management, and finance and recently completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees as a mature student. She is interested in nature and conservation and enjoys spending time outdoors. She can often be found on a hill, near a loch, or beach at the weekends with her 13-year-old son getting some exercise and enjoying the views.
General Manager, MARLA, Cert CIH
Natasha joined Southside in March 2011 and is responsible for managing a portfolio of properties, liaising with her colleagues in marketing and finance to ensure a smooth flow for tenants and landlords. A large part of Natasha’s role is that of property maintenance and undertaking regular inspections for her properties to keep on top of maintenance. Natasha holds a membership with ARLA & CIH. Outside of work Natasha’s time is taken up organising her wedding which is booked for 2019.
Leah Birch, MARLA
Senior Property Manager
After graduating in 2013 with a degree in Event Management from QMU, Leah worked with another letting company in a varied role carrying out check-ins and checkouts, conducting inventories and working on reception before moving to SouthSide. Leah started at SouthSide on reception and then quickly moved up to be Lettings Co-ordinator, dealing with applications and advertising. Leah has been in the role of Property Manager for 4 years, looking after a portfolio of properties including all John’s properties. In her spare time Leah likes to shop and go for dinner and drinks with her friends.
Allan Wells-Jansz, MARLA
Allan joined SouthSide in December 2016 having worked for 2 years previously for a small local letting agency in West Lothian. Allan is looking forward to expanding his knowledge of the property industry further. Prior to working in the letting industry Allan worked in the Energy Industry as Green Deal Advisor for three years. Outside of Southside Allan loves spending time with his family along with playing and watching football on a Sunday.
Andrew Anderson, MARLA
Andrew joined Southside in October 2017 having previously worked for property management company in Aberdeen for 3 years. In his previous role Andrew covered everything from inspections to the day to day management of the company’s portfolio. Andrew is looking forward to a new challenge in Edinburgh. In his spare time he enjoys a variation of sports, football, skiing and golf to name a few.
Emma Winning, MARLA
Emma joined Southside in July 2017 with a varied background including managing a small letting agency in Edinburgh for 2 years, Tour Guiding at Edinburgh Castle and working at the Royal Yacht Britannia. Outside of work Emma is keen runner with her partner Angus and they train regularly together, participating in road races inside and outside of the UK. In recent years Emma has been focusing her time and energy into training for long distance races, traveling to Europe and America to participate. In her spare time, Emma enjoys to relax by having regular spa breaks with friends and also enjoys baking for her friends and family.
Chloe Thomson, MARLA
Chloe joined us at SouthSide in May 2018. After gaining qualifications in HND Business Management, Chloe has pursued her career in the Property Sector over the past 6 years. Chloe has covered all aspects of Letting and Property Management in her previous job including managing her own team as Lettings Co-ordinator dealing with new landlords, tenant applications, referencing and advertising along with managing a portfolio of properties as Deputy Property Manager. Outside of Southside, Chloe enjoys spending time with her one year old son and has a passion for writing short stories.
Natalie joined Southside as a Property Manager. Natalie has worked in the property industry for 3 years and only has 1 more unit of her ARLA exams to complete. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family. Natalie also enjoys restoring properties and selling them on once complete.
Property Portfolio Manager
Lennox joined Southside as the Property Portfolio Manager. Lennox comes with strong background of maintenance and previous property letting experience. Originally from Canada, Lennox has lived in Edinburgh for nearly 20 years. In his free time Lennox enjoys playing basketball, ice hockey, reading comic books and listening to various genres of music.
Emma Ewen, MARLA
Emma’s background is as a paralegal and office manager for a solicitor’s office and she joined SouthSide to look after the legal aspects. Emma is responsible for advising clients with acquisitions of property and keeping John right! Emma is proficient in the ins and outs of letting, particularly on the legal aspect.
Property Services Manager
Peter has come to SouthSide with nearly 30 years experience in the Construction Industry. As the Property Service Manager he works closely with all the Property Managers ensuring the continued upkeep, refurbishment and development of our portfolio of properties. When Peter is not at work or at home with his family and feet up in front of the television he is often found in the outdoors, walking or cycling in the hills and living under canvas in some wild place! Either that or at the bar talking about wild (and often wet) trips!
Danny Briggs, MARLA
Head of Lettings
Danny joined the team in April 2010 aged 16 as the office junior, excelling in this role and other various tasks around the office. Danny is now one of the most experienced members of our team and has a flair for matching tenants to the right property. Danny’s role includes the advertising for all of our properties and he also working with our tenant find only service. Danny also holds viewings from time to time and deals with incoming enquiries. He is a man with strong ethics and always does what he says he is going to do. Originally from Yorkshire, in his spare time Danny spends time with his son Caiden.
Amy started with SouthSide in July 2013 on reception. Having worked in various roles within the lettings, she now manages the Application Team. Having previously worked in hospitality, Amy has loved combining her organisational skills with her customer service skills.In her spare time Amy loves playing with her toddler & spending time with her husband. Amy loves health and fitness and enjoys attending Pilates classes.
Marketing & Festival
Cat joined SouthSide in December 2013 and spent her summers at university running her own door to door business in America. Cat’s background include sales, recruitment, events and marketing and she is transferring these skills into a marketing role here at SouthSide as well as managing our festival lets and keeping John organised. We are always looking to improve the way we do business and Cat will be working closely with our landlords, tenants and the SouthSide team to ensure that we are continually improving our service. Cat loves to travel and lived in the US, Slovenia and a number of cities in the UK before choosing to settle in Edinburgh having bought her first property in June 2012.
Tom works with Southside on a part-time basis and is a valuable member of our team assisting with all aspects of the office from booking in viewings, references and assisting short lets. Tom has over 34 years experience in customer service, including working on a major Edinburgh construction project, communicating with a diverse range of people utilising his skills and experience to the fullest. Tom also looks after the facilities in the office and making sure all is in order. Tom enjoys hill walking on his days off and spending time with his Granddaughter on a Wednesday and Thursday when not in the office.
Training, Enquiry and Feedback Manager
Clair has recently returned to SouthSide after taking time away to focus on her young family. Clair’s 9 year property back ground includes working within the residential sales for both developers and individual sellers. In her spare time she enjoys going for walks and spending time with her son and partner.
Lewis joined SouthSide in November 2015 as a QA Apprentice Lettings Assistant hoping to build some experience in the property world, having come straight from school. Lewis, despite being one of our youngest members of the team, is not shy and fitted straight in, now responsible for coordinating a selection of our applications. Outside of work Lewis enjoys keeping fit and healthy by running and swimming and going to the gym when he can.

Derek joined the SouthSide team in December 2013 having previously worked in customer services. Derek is a keen traveller and relocated to California in 2012 where he organised and ran a children’s summer camp in San Francisco during the summer months. Derek enjoys keeping fit – his hobbies include football and regular trips to the gym.
Amy’s background for the past 5 years has involved working for an independent inventory company completing check ins and inventory admin along with check outs in a very busy role and is bringing that attention to detail to her role at SouthSide. Amy is responsible for helping prospective tenants complete the application process and ensuring that we do all can do ensure that the correct tenants are matched to the right property. She has a keen interest in art and photography and as part of her role also completes marketing photos and various video projects at SouthSide. In her spare time she likes to go out and socialise with friends and enjoys live music.
Pauline joined SouthSide at the beginning of September 2013 and is responsible for the property accounts managed by Andrew & Craig. Accounts is very much her thing and she is constantly striving to maintain a great working relationship with both tenants and landlords. The middle ground might be elusive sometimes but she’ll find it! If not at work, Pauline can be found visiting family in the Scottish Borders, watching telly, socializing with friends in the City, window shopping or sleeping until lunchtime (at weekends of course!).
Lisa has worked in accounts for 20 years plus, both private and public sector. Before Southside Lisa was self-employed, owning a travellers hostel in Edinburgh as well as a clothes/gift shop for the alternative genre as well as continuing with her private accounts clients. At Southside, Lisa processes Allan and Chloe’s accounts and keeps everything up to date. Outside of work, Lisa supports the local live music scene in Edinburgh, attends the gym; training as a body builder and makes jewellery as well as spending time with her three grown children and gorgeous three grandchildren.
Victoria was an accounts administrator for a large fruit and vegetable company for the past 8 years and has come to Southside to for a new challenge. At Southside Victoria is in charge of processing Natasha and Leah’s accounts and keeping everything up to date. Outside of work Victoria loves the theatre and has probably seen every show that’s been at the playhouse over the last 15 years(not exaggerating!). At the weekends Victoria is kept on her toes by an energetic 6 year old at home.
Margaret joined SouthSide on a part time basis in accounts helping with the project invoices, ensuring they are correct and making sure our contractors are paid on time. At the start of each month Margaret is at her busiest period transferring all of our landlord rents and keeping track of the company expenses.
Chelsey recently joined SouthSide Property Management after previously spending 4 years in an Accountants office doing her accounts training. She has dealt with payroll, VAT Returns and bank analysis in her previous positions. In her space time, Chelsey enjoys reading, spin class and spending time with her friends and family.
Lindsay became a member of the Southside team in early 2019. Prior to this Lindsay worked for five years with a Fife based letting agent and a local housing association. She has gained her administration skills from her time in both the social and private housing sectors. Before embarking on her career she supported her husband from army posting to posting over the UK & Germany. Outwith Southside she enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys eating out and socialising with friends especially a day out at Murrayfield.
Originally from Poland, Michal moved to Scotland in August 2011 and had lived in Dundee until July 2017, having finished HND Business Management at Dundee and Angus College and currently a 3rd year student of Business Management at QMU. Fluent in Polish, English, Italian and currently learning Spanish, Michal is our office translation expert! In his spare time Michal likes being active by going to the gym or playing five a side football.
Callum joined SouthSide in January 2018 as an QA Apprentice Lettings Assistant and was recently made Marketing Assistant. Prior to this Callum studied at Leith Academy and worked part time in retail. This is Callum’s first full time experience in employment and he is very eager to be a success. Callum is a keen Aberdeen FC supporter and enjoys going out with his friends or relaxing in the house in his spare time.
Cameron joined Southside in April 2018 to improve and build his property knowledge having previously worked for another property management company in Edinburgh for one year. Cameron’s previous experience before this include a strong background in events and hospitality. Originally from the west coast of Scotland Cameron has lived in Edinburgh since 2012 and in his free time he enjoys exploring the city, travel, history and spending time with friends and family. Cameron also recently got married and spent his honeymoon in Venice.

Feliciano arrived in Edinburgh from Italy in 2013, after 4 years in the hospitality industry he joined Southside in April 2017. Feliciano studied Business Economics in Italy is currently studying Business Management here in Edinburgh. In his spare time he enjoys going mountain climbing and watching live music with his partner Marta.
Property Visits and Viewings
Prior to joining Southside David ran his own small business which he sold in 2012. After a short sabbatical he supervised activities ( bar and food ) in the members lounge at an Edinburgh Yacht Club during the sailing season. Following a spell working ad hoc for an Edinburgh letting agent David joined Southside Property Management in February 2015. Viewing for Southside brings David into contact with lots of new people which he greatly enjoys and is a real people person. In his spare time David enjoys pottering around on his classic cars, cooking, music and travel.

Prior to joining Southside, John worked in an admin/health and safety role for a local steel fabrication company. Prior to that John enjoyed a long (36 year) career with BT in a senior management role before taking early retirement in 2016. Away from Southside, John is an occasional taxi driver and away from work, John is a football coach at Bonnyrigg Rose (since 2007) and spends as much time as possible at Gullane Golf Club either playing or caddying.

Robert starting working with SouthSide in May 2014 as a Routine Property Visitor. Robert also spend over 30 years in the fire service and since retiring has undertaken various jobs such as landscape gardening and working at a training consultancy. These days however, when he’s not visiting properties Robert likes to spend his time keeping fit through cycling, hill walking and occasional golf and five-a-side football. Robert is a very dependable part of the team who is always willing to lend a hand when it’s required.

Prior to joining Southside in 2018, Sam had spent most of his working life in various roles within the electronic fire and security industry – ranging from engineering to sales management. Along with three friends he also built up and ran a highly successful alarm business in West Lothian. Sam enjoys working with people and finds his role at Southside provides the opportunity to do this. In his spare time Sam is a family man who likes to travel and has many interests – his passion being his music collection, specifically David Bowie recordings and memorabilia!
